The City of Morehead will accept applications for the position of Class Title: Telecommunications Officer until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010. Applications can be obtained from the Morehead Police Department, 105 East Main Street, Morehead, Ky. 40351 and are also available online at cityofmorehead.net. Applications must be returned to the Morehead Police Department at the above address. General Duties and Responsibilities include: Under general supervision, receiving, transmitting and relaying information concerning public safety and law enforcement activities to, from, and between city, county, state and other public safety/emergency agencies and performing other related duties as required. Special knowledge, skills and abilities needed: Working knowledge of F.C.C. rules and regulations governing operations of radio-telephone receiving and transmitting equipment, basic radio transmission procedures, and geography of the city. Ability to act quickly, calmly and correctly in emergency situations at all hours and to deal courteously with the public. Successful applicant must complete training for Telecommunicator during first year after appointment and required in-service training annually. Successful applicant will be required to participate in drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment and random testing, as a condition of continued employment.
